We Got tha Funk

Saw Parliament tonight on the waterfront for free. Despite a late start and a three minute PA outage they brought the house down. Perhaps one of the trippiest things ever, the fireworks started while Parliament was still playing and after a few minutes they cut Parliament from the mains and piped in the patriotic selections (kind of marching band stuff) but the P-Funk kept on keepin' on. I was off to the side of the stage (I'm sure they kicked ass up front) but still heard how they were actually playing along with and echoing the patriotic marching band shit while doing old Parliament shit over the top. I heard "America the Beautiful" on full distortion lead guitar at one point. Great crowd with lots of hands in the air, waving like they just don't care.
